Swedish Heirloom Cookies

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and butter at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  2. Add 1 cup confectioners' sugar and salt; mix well.
  3. Stir in flour.
  4. Add water, vanilla extract and almonds, stirring well.
  5. Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
  6. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten.
  7. Bake at 325 degrees F for 12 to 15 minutes or until done.
  8. Dredge warm cookies in confectioners' sugar.
