Orange Juice Cake

Orange Juice Cake recipe

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix*
  • 1/2 cup Crisco oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 small box instant vanilla pudding

Topping

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup orange juice

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease well and flour* a Bundt pan.

Cake

  1. Mix all ingredients, scraping the bowl. Beat on low speed for 2 minutes.
  2. Pour into the prepared Bundt pan. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
  3. As soon an cake is removed from oven (leave cake in pan), prepare topping.

Topping

  1. Bring all ingredients to boil until all have melted. Immediately pour over cake. Let sit for 6 to 8 minutes.
  2. Flip cake onto serving dish. The cake will absorb all the topping.

Notes

* 18.25 ounce boxes of cake mix have been replaced by 16.5 ounce and 15.25 ounce boxes. To compensate for the volume loss in a 16 ounce box, whisk 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour into the dry cake mix before proceeding with the recipe. To compensate for the volume loss in a 15.25 ounce box, add 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.
