Yum Yum Sauce
This Japanese-American sauce is also known as white sauce, shrimp sauce, hibachi sauce and yummy sauce. It's actually a glorified fry sauce, and it is an American invention, not a Japanese invention. Whatever you call it, it is YUMMY! No Japanese steakhouse meal is complete without it – whether drizzled on grilled chicken, fried rice, noodles, vegetables and as a dipping sauce for shrimp, crab cakes, potstickers and sushi, it’s simply scrumptious!
Yield: 1 1/4 cups
Ingredients
- 1 cup good-quality mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- Salt and pepper
- 2 to 3 tablespoons water
Instructions
- In a small bowl whisk all ingredients except the water.
- Add water as needed to get the desired consistency.
