Slow Cooker Carnitas


Fresh orange juice and Coke provide the base for these delicious Carnitas.


  • 1 garlic head, chopped
  • 6 bay leaves
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh orange juice
  • 1 1/2 cups Coke
  • 3 tablespoons salt
  • 10 pounds pork (picnic shoulder)


  1. Place everything in the slow cooker on HIGH for 5 hours and then on LOW for 4 hours.
  2. Optional: Shred meat and re-fry in a little oil in skillet until of the desired crispness.

Traditional garnishes include grated sharp dry cheeses, radishes, sour cream, shredded cabbage and limes.
