Slow Cooker Carnitas
Fresh orange juice and coke provide the base for these delicious Carnitas.
Ingredients
- 1 garlic head, chopped
- 6 bay leaves
- 1 1/2 cups fresh orange juice
- 1 1/2 cups Coke
- 3 tablespoons salt
- 10 pounds pork (picnic shoulder)
Instructions
- Place everything in the slow cooker on HIGH for 5 hours and then on LOW for 4 hours.
- Optional: Shred meat and re-fry in a little oil in skillet until of the desired crispness.
Notes
Traditional garnishes include grated sharp dry cheeses, radishes, sour cream, shredded cabbage and limes.
