This is similar to a pecan praline and breaks into irregular pieces.
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups nuts
- Add baking soda to buttermilk in 4-quart saucepan. Stir well and let stand 1
- Add sugar, corn syrup and butter. Cook to soft ball stage (236 degrees F
to 238 degrees F on candy thermometer).
- Add vanilla extract and nuts. Beat by hand until candy begins to thicken.
onto buttered cookie sheet. Let cool and cut into pieces.
