Black Bottom Fruit and Nut Bars

  • 1 (6 ounce) package chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 cup slightly crushed corn flakes
  • 1 cup golden or dark raisins
  • 1 cup chopped red candied cherries
  • 3/4 cup peanuts
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. In a small saucepan melt the chocolate chips and margarine over low heat, stirring occasionally. Spread evenly over bottom of greased pan.
  3. Refrigerate until set.
  4. In large bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients until well coated. Press firmly over the chocolate layer n pan.
  5. Bake for 17-20 minutes or until edges begin to bubble or top is lightly browned.
  6. Cool.
  7. Refrigerate until set.
  8. Cut into bars. Store in the refrigerator.
