How to Tint Coconut

Place 1 cup flaked coconut in a resealable plastic bag. Squeeze 5 or 6 drops of desired food color into bag, using more or less until desired color is achieved. Shake until color is evenly distributed.

Tinted coconut has many uses. Use it for "grass" to set Easter cakes on. Color the coconut for specific holidays for use in fruit salads, etc. It's great for a truffle coating also.

Note: Liquid food color is best for tinting coconut rather than using gel colors.
