Warm Vanilla Custard Sauce
This is SO good over pound cake, bread pudding…even just licked off a spoon!
Ingredients
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 pinch salt
- 3 cups whole milk
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- In the top of a double boiler, whisk together the whole eggs, sugar, cornstarch, salt and milk, then cook over boiling water, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the spoon.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla until the butter is melted.
- Serve warm.
