Homemade Mix Recipes
Gingerbread Mix
Yield: about 13 cups Gingerbread Mix
Ingredients
- 8 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup baking powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 tablespoon ginger
- 2 cups shortening
Instructions
- In a large bowl, soft together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Mix well.
- With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until evenly distributed. Mixture will resemble cornmeal in texture.
- Put into a large airtight container. Label.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
Gingerbread
2 cups Gingerbread Mix
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup molasses
Mix well, and pour into a greased 9 inch pan.
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Notes
Use within 10 to 12 weeks.
Variation: Substitute 2 cups of brown sugar for the granulated sugar.
