Gingerbread Mix

Yield: about 13 cups Gingerbread Mix

Ingredients

  • 8 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 2 cups shortening

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, soft together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Mix well.
  2. With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until evenly distributed. Mixture will resemble cornmeal in texture.
  3. Put into a large airtight container. Label.
  4. Store in a cool, dry place.

Gingerbread

2 cups Gingerbread Mix
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup molasses

Mix well, and pour into a greased 9 inch pan.

Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F.

Notes

Use within 10 to 12 weeks.

Variation: Substitute 2 cups of brown sugar for the granulated sugar.
