Can't Go Wrong Pie Crusts

Yield: 3 (8 inch) crusts


  • 3 cups pastry flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 5 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar


  1. Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Using a pastry blender, cut in shortening until well blended.
  2. In a 1 cup liquid measure, combine egg, water and vinegar. Using a fork, blend egg mixture into flour mixture.
  3. Divide into equal 3 pieces. Roll out each piece on a lightly floured surface, or wrap in plastic wrap and freeze.
