Flavored Butters recipe

Stir desired recipe ingredients into 1/2 cup butter, softened; cover and chill at least 8 hours.

Multiply butter and other ingredients accordingly for larger quantities. For example, for 1 cup Chili Butter, use 1 cup butter, 2 tablespoons chili powder, 2 teaspoons ground cumin and 1 teaspoon ground red pepper.

Chili Butter

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  1. Serve on warm tortillas, or stir into refried beans or rice.

Cinnamon Butter

  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  1. Serve on hot rolls.

Herb Butter

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  1. Serve on assorted steamed vegetables, fish or chicken.

Jalapeno Butter

  • 2 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1 or 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  1. Serve on baked potatoes, rice, or chicken.

Seafood Butter

  • 2 teaspoons grated onion
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
  1. Serve on seafood or baked potatoes.

Blackberry Butter

  • 2 tablespoons blackberry jam
  1. Serve on waffles, pancakes, or ham.

Blue Cheese Butter

  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
  1. Serve with crackers as an hors d'oeuvre, or on baked potatoes or steaks.

Bourbon Butter

  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  1. Serve on pork chops or ham, toasted pound cake, waffles or sweet potato biscuits.

Chipotle Pepper Butter

  • 1 tablespoon minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  1. Serve on rice, baked potatoes, chicken, or pork chops.

Citrus Butter

  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon rind
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange rind
  1. Serve on seafood, chicken or pasta.

Cranberry Butter

  • 2 tablespoons cranberry sauce
  1. Serve on sweet potatoes, waffles or ham.

Honey Butter

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  1. Serve on sweet potatoes, waffles, winter squash or ham.

Lemon-Anchovy Butter

  • 2 teaspoons anchovy paste
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  1. Serve on seafood.

Lemon Pepper Butter

  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  1. Serve on steak, fish, chicken or shrimp.

Mediterranean Butter

  • 3 tablespoons minced pitted Kalamata olives
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons basil olive oil
  1. Serve on sliced French bread for an easy appetizer or on pasta, fish or chicken.

Pecan Butter

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans, toasted
  1. Serve on pancakes, sweet potatoes, winter squash or gingerbread.

Pesto Butter

  • 2 tablespoons pesto
  1. Serve on chicken breasts, baked potatoes, steamed vegetables or pasta.

Sesame Butter

  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon grated lime rind
  • 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
  1. Serve on shrimp, sweet potatoes, or grilled chicken.
