Favorite Apple pie

This is the apple pie that has cream in the filling. The cream in the filling makes all the difference in the world.

Favorite Apple Pie


  • Pastry for double crust pie
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon milk


  1. Prepare pastry for a double crust pie. On a lightly floured board, roll out half to a 12 inch round. Fit into a 9 inch pie plate. Trim overhang to 1/2 inch.
  2. Mix granulated and brown sugars, flour, spices and salt in a small bowl. Spread about 1/3 of the apples into prepared pastry shell. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the sugar and spice mixture. Repeat layering 2 more times.
  3. Pour cream into the center and dot with butter.
  4. Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
  5. Roll out remaining pastry to an 11 inch round. Cut several slits near center to let steam escape. Cover pie; trim overhang to 1/2-inch. Turn edges under and flute.
  6. Brush top with milk and sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar.
  7. Bake for 1 hour or until pastry is golden and juice bubbles up.
  8. Cool for at least one hour before serving.
